The Middle Panthers received a scare from the Wildwood Warriers on Saturday, but managed to pull out a win over a team that they should have beaten by 4 touchdowns. This old sport can’t see the value of trying to nm or pass for the extra points, when they have a good place kicker in Chris Nichols. So far. they are 0-5 in running, and Chris would certainly have made 4 out of 5. Lower Cape May showed they are a team to be reckoned with in theC.A.L. by beating Ham moot on This weeks game between Middle and LCMR should be a thriller The Old Sport will have to miss it. because he will be in Memphis, Tennessee, watching the Tennessee Mississippi State game, courtesy of his brother who works for the U.of T. The Old Sport remembers the days when football players wore leather helmets, but in the name of

progress, plastic helmets were introduced which were to give the wearers more protection. But do fhey ready? At Middle Township there has been a series of head and neck injuries, namely. Eddie Leighton. Donny Rhinesmith and Chris Nirhob. who have had their bells rung. The helmets are so dangerous to defensive players, that a rule, prohibiting spearing, had to be adopted. IS THIS REALLY PROGRESS’’ A report that Dr. Rodolfo Garcia was in the ICU at Burdette Tomlin is bad news for Middle Football Dr Garcia is a hardworking physician who has the interest of the team at heart GET WELL DR GARCIA, MIDDLE NEEDS YOU The doctor is now recuperating, in Florida fora week What’s the reason for the flood of penalties against the Panthers? Could it be the officiating. the coaching, or just the desire of a young team? At any rate, there's no excuse for a roughing the kicker penalty, which happened in the Wildwood game. Farmer Bill was selling fruit at the game for the benefit of the Boosters Club, much to the dismay of the Kiwanis Club, who operated the refreshment stand, and felt he was encroaching on their territory. But does MacDonald's try to stop Burger King, Arthur Treacher’s, and Wendy's from opening up across the street? The Old Sport has to apologize to Keith Seaman, the softball expert, for inadvertantly omitting his name as a football father in the roster of the Middle Township football team The Old Sport was not around here during Keith's illustrous career at Middle, and thought he was strictly a ball player
