planned programs and purposes of the V.F.W. for the coming year and exchange of ideas. An honor guard was furnished by the Lt. Charles "Buddy” Lewis V.F.W.Post 5343, Villas for the occasion. The Ladies Auxiliary of Post 7478 prepared a very nice luncheon for the members and guests. CDR Blesedell was presented a model of the sailing ship "Flying Cloud” by members of the 17th District. After the luncheon the group motored to V.F.W. Post 3509 Wildwood and paid their respects to the State V.F.W. Auxiliary President, Alice Myron and the Ladies Auxiliary of District 17 V.F.W. The men of District 17 presented President Myron a beautiful handcrafted allpurpose dish. A social hour was held after the ceremenies and a pleasant evening was enjoyed by all.

He currently serves as 1st Vice President of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, served as a member of their Board of Directors since 1976 and was the recipient of their "Member of The Year" in

1977.

Involvement in county wide activities includes being Chairman of the Cape May County Junior Miss Scholastic Pagent since 1975 and on The Lower Township Zoning Board of Adjustment since

1976.

He received his Bachelors Degree at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts and was actively involved in YMCA Administration before moving to Lower Township where he now resides in Cold Spring with his wife, Suzanne. As a highlight of the 197980 installation the N.J. District Governor Andy Bats is of Toms River' past International President, Nick Swain of Cape May and Lieutenant Governor, James Washington of West Cape May will take part in the installation ceremonies. Additionally a representative group from the Asbury Park Kiwanis Club where Smeltzer first started his Kiwanis experience will be in attendance.
