COURT HOUSE — The Diviaion of »Tfc>c«tion*l Education agri Career Preparation, New Jersey State Department of Education, has eirmkrked $36,700 in federal funds for career education for all Cape May County fifth and - sixth grade students, through the efforts of the Cape May County Vocational School District. Approval of the proposal for funds under the Career Education Incentive Act, Public Law 96-207, was received Oct. 11. The objectives of this grant are: (1) To assist fifth and sixth grade instructors with the infusion of career education concepts, free of sexstereotyping, throughout all learning activities; (2) to improve students career awareness, exploration, decision-making and planning as appropriate for fifth and sixth grade levels; (3) to create an elementary career education model which may be replicated throughout the state and nation, utiliiing the County Vocational School as the primary source for career
information.
A banquet workshop was held Oct. 24 for all fifth and sixth grade PTA presidents and personnel, including instructors, media specialists, guidance counselors, principals and school administrators to Cape May County, was held at the new County Career Center. Mrs. Hazel Rockhold, a prominent Career Educational Specialist from Washington D.C. presented the workshop complete with innovative curriculum materials, related handouts and a demonstration of fifth and sixth grade level career education activities to the educators
in attendance.
Primary emphasis will be placed upon the utilization of the County Vocational School District as the focal point for career information. Throughout the project duration, Oct. 1, 1979 to Sept. 20, 1900, tours of the County Career Center and Vocational Technical Center, guest speakers, hands-on career exploration activities and the annual Job Fair will be available for all county fifth and sixth
