1.2 million dollars in yearly gross receipts taxes, according to Lynwood Smith and William Belles, Republican candidates for Township

Committee.

Smith, who is opposing Mayor Samuel Device, said that an organization comprised of fourteen municipalities throughout New Jersey known as “Municipalities for a Fair Share", Ins been pleading with the Democrats in Middle Township for over a year to join the

Dennis Township, which stands to lose $200,000 has joined the organization, but Middle Township, although we could lose $1.2 i **

to fight for ow righto! Investing $2500 to protect $1.2 million is a sound investment, Belles said.

We an know, Smith said, that the Democratic government and the Democratic controlled legislature would like to take some of our funds and re-distribute those funds to North Jenev cities such as Newark, Elizabeth, and Patterson. Middle Township did not cause the financial problems in North Jersey and Bill and I intend to fight any attempt to “raid” our revenues, Smith said.
