The aim of this program is to help our residents feel that someone cares. I hope we*get good cooperation," Chief Foley stated.
AVALON - Combined September and October police reports for the Borough of Avalon showed these figures: -Borough police handled 2,711 incidents during the two month period; --18,362 miles were traveled; -100 hank- checks were made; -37 sick assists were rendered.and -1,564 business checks were made. Residential checks which begin an upswing in the offseason increased from 45 in September to 147 In October. Avalon police ask that residents having heater lights to notify the department concerning responsible parties to contact in event of an emergency. The number of motor vehicle accidents dropped sharply in October to two while in September there were 17. Likewise, parking violations dropped from 44 in September to one in October. Motor vehicle checks remained high in September — 104, with a decline to 77 in October. A total of 69 summons were issued to vehicle operators. No juveniles were handled in the department for either month. This fact points to the positive work being done by the police in the area of juvenile relatiohs. There were a total of 422 minor incidents handled within the department and 1B arrests were made.
