By The OM Sport
Urged on by his friends, The Old Sport feels obliged to defend himself against the uncalled for low blow launched against him and his newspaper by the Coaching Staff of Middle Township High School at the Boosters' Club Football Banquet. An affair to honor the Football Team waa hardly the place to belittle the Herald and rake its Sports Editor over the coals, because in his column he had blamed the coaching staff for being remiss In not building up an obvious weakness in pass defense and because he felt that the team’s record could have been 5-1 Instead
of 5-3.
How soon they forget! Only a few columns earlier he had praised the coaching staff and voiced the opinion that If he had a son of high school age, he would have wanted him to be coached by Messrs Exley, Smith, Tetley, Yerk and Kaighn because they were an exemplary-group of men. ' How'soon theflBrget that

water out to practice in his pick-up when the managerial staff was unable to provide it. And the watermelons brought for the players on some hot days. At least the players appreciated his efforts and
thanked him for it.
If the coaching staff resented the attempt at constructive criticism by this reporter, the banquet was hardly the place to retaliate. They could have written a letter to the editor and would have been given plenty of space to air their complaints.“To err is human, to forgive divine." The Middle Twp Recreation Dept’s Volley Ball League has developed into a race between three teams, State Farm, Kiwanis and Acme. The latest standing as of Dec. 6 is as follows:State FarmlS3 .833 Kiwanis 14-4 .778 Acme 11-7 .611 Optimists 8-9 .471 Sheriff’s Dept. 4-13 .235 Fred’s Tavern 1-17 .056

Not so with Cot
i Coach Chick
(Rad Shadow) Ludman, who is using the talwU of freshman Doug Fulford on his starting vanity team. Which pleases the Old Sport who has watched "Dougy” play basketball while In the Middle School and used him to scrimmage against the Kiwanis team, much to Mr. Penman’s dismay! Well, Dougy has grown, both physically and mentally in basketball and now can rightfully take his place with the young talent coming into his program like "Bad" Frank Brown, Joey “Deadeye” DiGiacomo, Richie “Baby. Rhino” Rhinesmith and

Gihorski. Chick’s teams should dominate the CAL for years to come. Amen. Turning to volleyball how could State Farm Team come up with such outstanding athletes as Mike McLaughlin, Gene Sanders, Kevin Sherman, A1 Thomas (from Ocean City!!) Butch Davies, Dave Ferrell, Pat Gant, and Bill Buck. Is Gene Sanders giving them special inducement to
P«y?
Having finiahed the football season, Donny Rhinesmith was expected to bolster the Kiwanis Volleyball Team, but has yet to make his debut. Could it be that cupid has pierced his heart with a deadly arrow and he is now a lover rather than a player? Come on, Rhino, the "Big K" needs you to beat State Farm.
Followers of Middle Twp. High School Football seem to agree that Coach Krisewicz (could he be Polish?) who spent one year here in the late 50’s knew more football than any other Middle Coach (Including Luttrell, Crist and Grosae). He had a 7-2 record and did not come hack because of a lack of credits which would have required him to take Extension Courses. This did not fit in with his plans, so he returned to the freedom of Pennsylvania. And so it goes! The Old Sport (and he is old after celebrating another birthday on the 14th of Dec. The 29th?) doesn’t seem able to get anything started on the question of Middle’s most successful football coach. The record seems to indicate Fred Grosae, but there are supporters of Tom Crist, Dick Luttrell and even Wilbur Clark. Let's bear from you fans! M.T.H.S. now has a Freshman Girl’s Basketball Team. It is being coached by hand-
