STONE HARBOR - A promotion and three appointments, including the first full time female police officer in the county, have been announced in the borough police department by Mayor James Wood. Promoted to sefgeant was officer Victor Gorski. Named as police officers were Ann Petruzzelli, Gary Swank and Michael I,ederer The new sergeant is a seven-yeir veteran of the local force; the three newest police all have experience as summertime officers. According to the mayor, the appointments were necessitated by attrition and reorganization. Police

ALL THREE of the new appointees have bachelor degrees in criminal justice and were chosen from among 20 applicants. Petruzzelli is a recent graduate of West Chester (PA > State College. She is reportedly the first woman in the county to be appointed a fi^ltime police officer. Other females have served as summer police; indeed Petruzzelli worket! with the local department last season. She also served an internship with the Lacy Township (Ocean County)

New Freeholder Speaker Jan. 28 CAPE MAY - Freeholder Jack Bittner of Ocean City will address the first meeting of 1980 of the Women’s Republican Club of Cape May, 8 p.m. January 28 at the American Legion Home, Congress Si. It will be Bittner's first club appearance here since being sworn in as freeholder January 3.
