Aid Due

Homemakers TRENTON — Governor Byrne has announced the approval of $150,000 in U.S. Labor Department funding for New Jersey’s program to aid displaced homemakers. The money will go to the New Jersey Department of Labor and Industry and will help support the state’s effort to develop a network of programs which will address the needs of women who would qualify as displaced homemakers. It has b^en estimated that more than 300,000 New Jersey women, many in their middle years, have been forced into the world of work outside the home due to changes in marital status such as divorce or death of a husband. The New Jersey Displaced Homemaker Act. approved last year, calls for assistance to such women who never expected to be the full provider for themselves or their children and who do not have skills that would help them achieve that objective.
