COURT HOUSE - A world record weakfish catch and 79 other top entries in the 44th annual Cape May County Fishing Tournament were recognized during recent meeting of the tournament .Judges committee at th Hof Rrau Restaurant in Wildwood. The judges selected the W) prize-winning fish from nearly 2000 entries in the annu<il fishing event which dosed December 31 The tournament, one of the oldest in continuity in the country, is sponsored 12 months a year by the Cape May County Board of Freeholders through its Department of Public
Affairs.
In announcing the list of winners freeholder director Anthony Catanoso, extended the congratulations of the County governing body to all who entered the contest. He also reminded all anglers that all contest entries are recognized with an official tournament entry badge and that all fish over minimum weights for each species receive bronze recognition pins and award citations. ANGLERS FROM seven states shared in the prizes, with New Jersey and Pennsylvania anglers dominating the prizewinning efforts. A 17 lb. B oz weakfish caught by Jack S/elica of fiTJMi Pec bin St., Philadelphia, . won first prize in that division and also was qualified as a new world record for weakfish by the International Game Fish Association in the 12 lb. lest class.
