Bids In For First Outfall SWAINTON-Five bids, ranging from 18.8 million to $14.3 million for the construction of the ocean outfall line in Ocean City have been received by the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority. Spencer White & Prentis of Rochelle Park. N.J. submitted a bid of $8,837,000 based on using prestressed concrete cylinder pipe. Gates/Spiniello, a joint venture from Little Ferry, N.J. bid $9,096,604 using steel pipe in their construction plan. MU A chairman John Vinci, commenting oh the bids said, “It is comforting to know that many months after the Authority's staff and engineers estimated the ocean outfall would cost $0.8 million to build, we now receive bids of less than that. Apparently, it was a good estimate." The MUA will decide in the next few weeks which company will be awarded the contract. The ocean outfall which will extend 6,800 feet into the ocean, is scheduled to be completed by mid-lMl, the same time the wastewater treatment plant and pumping station are to be on line.
