Little Dancers Raise Big Money
COURT HOUSE - TW second annual Dance-A-Then, siaged by the Dancers Two Studio and sponsored by the Thurston Elmer Wood American Legion Post of this com* munity. was held Jan. 26 at the Post Home The purpose was to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. Last year's event raised $2,!>00 which enabled the local I^cgiort post to become the com tributor of the largest amount of any post in Nevf f Jersey. This year the Dancers Two dancers were out to better last year s record Managers of the studiof Nancy Gibson and Sally Burns, hoped their charged would accomplish this and this they did by going out raising pledges amoijntin^ to $3,900 \ The Dance-A-Thon ran from 9 till 9 and it wai during this time that thO names of those getting thd largest pledges were an* nounced The top ten monev raisers were — 1 Terri Higgs 220 ; 21 Carolyn Dwyer$207: 3 Kathy Coomer $143. 4 Connie Schmidt $102: !>} Kelly Robbins $101. 6l Sharon Kirschneh $99; Sally Pfeiffers $96; 8
Debbie Frankinfield $87: 9 Stacy Creamer $81. and 10 Maureen Palmisano 80 Terri Higgs is a 6-year-old ball of fire who attends the Glenwood School in Wildwood where she is a pre-first student in Mrs Shagren's class. Her parents are Kerry and Christine Higgs who. although they now live in Wildwood, have their roots in Stone Harbor where almost all of Terri's pledges were raised. The American Legion Post Home on Hand Ave and Dias Creek Rd. was a hot bed of activity. With the disco music blaring from a stereo sound system, it was noisy, and with over 100 dancers on the floor, it was crowded Add to this the mothers (and fathers too of the dancers and the spectators — it was always crowded With the coat racks overloaded, jackets were stacked in the cor ners Tables were loaded with food and drink and overflowing And the kitchen was filled with snacks, brought by the parents And the dance went on A special feature of the evening was the ap pearance of a local rock group patterned after

Barbara Turnier, Karen Stephens and Elaine Lynam As was done last year, a check for the final amount received will be presented to the Arthritis Foundation during the telethon at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City on Sunday. Feb 17 A group representing Thurston Elmer Wood Post along with Terri Higgs and her mother Christine will make the trip as well as Nancy Gibson and Suzy --Bill Sherman
