WEST CAPE MAY - A 31-year-old native who had been serving as a parttime policeman here became the commissioner in charge of public safety following swearing-in ceremonies in borough hall Saturday

morning.

Marvin F. Morrell of Second Ave. took the oath of office as commissioner during a special meeting called to fill the vacancy created by the Jan. 15 resignation, for health reasons, of 83-year old Elwood Marshall Rehab Unit To Conduct Follow-up COURT HOUSE - The Jersey Cape Diagnostic. Training and Opportunity Center, a rehabilitation facility which serves the county’s handicapped citizens, recently hired a case finder through a CETA grant. The new case finder. Rosanne Donohoe of Cape May. will supervise a research program designed to follow-up on the progress of clients who have left the center’s

program.

(ioals of the follow-up study include gathering data on the employment status of former clients and assessing their need for additional service in the center’s program or other related community

agencies.

The data compiled in the 18-month project will benefit taxpayers regarding the utilization of monies, and will give the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (NJDVR) an effective measure to evaluate services delivered.

Mr Marshall’s directorship of revenue and finance was assumed by, Commissioner Leroy Reeves. Mr Morrell is director of public affairs as well as public safety. His term continues until May 1981 when the three commission seats come up for election In addition to serving as a parttime police officer here, a position he has now given up. NTr Morrell is also the local Civil Defense Director and a member of the local Board of Education. A county social worker, he is also the local welfare director. Mr. Marshall has served on the local governing body since the mid 1970s Mr Morrell previously ran unsuccessfully for a commission seat. Now’s An Ice Time To Go Fishing Ice fishing is an invigorating winter sport enjoyed by thousands of . Garden State anglers. And ’ it affords a fine opportunity for whole families to spend a day together in the outdoors. Equipment needs can be kept to a bare minimum. Entire families can be provided with a jigging rod and lures or tip-ups for very little. By combining skating and a picnic, a real oldfashioned outing is readily possible. Fishing is often the bonus. The list of waters stocked by the state is a good guide to places to fish during the winter — as well as spring, summer and fall. For a free copy of the list send a stamp-addressed #10 envelope to the Division of Fish. Game, and Shell fisheries* P.O. Box 1809. Trenton. N.J. 08625.

Sounds

By Char lei P. Lamey ;

Cliff Richard's We Don't Talk Anymore (EMI), is a pleasant rock album. Besides the title track, which was already a major hit single. Richard provides a nice balance between crisp rockers and emotional ballads. While not an overwhelming vocalist. Cliff Richard is. nevertheless, consistent and entertaining, reaching several age groups. Although praised by almost eyjer rock critic and the subject of features in both Time and Newsweek. The Clash's first two albums seemed cold to me. But. thejr third one. Londo Calling (Epic* lives up to the press they've gotten. This is raw. powerful rock and roll at its finest and should appeal to fans of Mott The Hoople. The Rolling Stones, and The Ramones. Best part is it’s a double album selling for the price of one. Take a chance on The Gash, it might be the best deal of the year. At one time. John Mayall was reverently referred to^ as the ’father of British' blues ’’ True, his early endeavors — especially his albums with Eric Gapton and Peter Green — are required listening for any blues or rock fanatic, but recently his music has become dull and clumsy

No More Interview* (DJM) is. unfortunately, unifor mally weak and uninteresting. as he tries R&B and disco, along with watered down blues. John Mayall should stick with what ho does best, before his dwindling following becomes non-existent altogether. Last week the most added on album to FM rock stations was the debut by England’s The Pretenders (Sire). This incredible group, led by American Chrissie Hynde. combines girl group sounds with the urgency of the new wave. Stop Your Sobbing and Kid and Bras* In Pocket were all promotion, the same could happen on our shores Fans of Steve Martin will cherish Comedy Is Not Pretty (Warmer Brothers), but this record won’t win over nonbelievers. Like most comedy albums, this one falls a bit short, because one misses physical gestures (facial expressions. hand movements, etc.), which often make a joke work. When Steve Martin has a video cassette on the market, then we'll have something to get excited over. Until that day. this will be more than passable for his several million followers.
