Wednesday. February 13,1980 Fox Favors House OKs Registration Bay Flood For Draft Aid Plan
COURT HOUSE - A simplified plan of draft registration for all 18-to 26year olds is favored by Republican congressional candidate Beech Fox. but not resumption of the draft at this time. In a news release. Mr. Fox said registration for the dr^ft should never have been discontinued and that he believes youth are willing to contribute to a show of military readiness but don’t want to participate in an unwarranted military action. The county sheriff and former Army National Guard company commander also pointed out that instituting the full draft is a Congressional action and that he has confidence the right decision would be made following proper debate. Combat readiness is the first priority, the congressional contender said, adding that such readiness shouldn’t include females. “If we need more support individuals and we have the training facilities to accommodate them, only theg would 1 favor drafting females as a last resort." Mr. Fox said.
