COURT HOUSE - The Cape May County Chess Club's annual county championship tournament is March 2 at the Leroy May Community Center, west of Main St., just off of Romney PI. Registration is from 9:15 to 9:45. March 1 The tournament is scheduled to be a five-round Swiss with matches at 10. 1. and 4 on March 1 and 11 and 2:30 March 2. Membership in the United States Chess Federation is required of participants, who will be able to join the V.S.C.F during registration.

All participants are requested to bring their own chess sets, and chess clocks if available. Bill’s Aim — Fish Waste To Fertilizer TRENTON - TTw N.J. Senate has passed a MU directing the Department of Agriculture to establish a program for the research, development and use of seafood waste as agricultural fertilizer. S-33, introduced by Senator James Cafiero (R, Cape May-Cumberland) was approved 37-0 in the upper house and was sent to the state assemhly. According to Cafiero, it has long been known that seafood waste can be processed into agricultural fertilizer providing an alternate source of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer for farmers, at a cost far less than customary fertilizers. Similar studies conducted in Oregon have produced encouraging results, he said. "Shells from the sea shore are making costal areas of that state lush with more green grass than ever for cattlemen and dairy farmers." David McCoy, special projects manager of Progresso Quality Foods of Vineland. supports Caficro's hill, saying it will bring new jobs and more tax revenues to the state and would encourage more business to start in New Jersey.

Early on it looked as if Cape May would have no trouble coming out on top, as the Lappers piked up points in the back stroke and freestyle event. But the Dolphins came curging back using their relay strength to take the lead with only two events remaining. CAPE MAY came even with the Crest, at 78 points apiece, in the 11-12-year-old freestyle relay behind the efforts of Alice Rudelger and Gerry Comber, the latter ending up the day with a meet-high of five first place finishes. In addtion to the others, first-place finishers for Cape May included Donna MacElrevey and Danny MacElrevey. Taking second for the Lappers were Gerry Pagano. Alice Ruediger, Jenny McBride. Anne Rudeiger and Danny MacElrevey. COMING IN third for Cape May were Donna MacElrevey. Pam Fretz, Alice Ruediger, Donna MacElrevey. Desiree Engle. Gerry Pagano. Myra Kerman. Becky Snyder, Jenny McBride and Chris Calhoun. The meet ran like clockwork under the aegis of the Training Center personnel who provided scorekeepers. timers, spotters, supervision, the facilities and refreshments. The tape May Youth Diving Squad put on an exhibition prior to the start of the swim meet.
