Basketball The Trailblazers of Model Cleaners solidified their hold on first place with a breath-taking 27-26 win over the late-charging Atlas Motor Inn. Jody Webb paced the winners with 14 points. Tim Cohen canned eight points and handled the rebounding chores and point guard Brian Lucas hit a pair of baskets. Explosive Brendan Connors nearly had his Atlas team an upset win by popping in six of his game-high 16 points in the

final period.

Women’s Volleyball Ocean Academy hit high tide and ebbtide their last two outings. At their peak, behind the flowing serves of Mary Lou McPherson and Debbie Brett, Ocean flooded Kona for a 15-10, 15-6, 15-12 sweep. Against the Jockettes, they fell 16-14 in overtime rebounded in the second game 15-11 to be the match before Charlotte Lamanche carried the Jockettes to the win 15-11. The Jockettes then made it two in a rtw with 15-0,15-9, 4-15, stampeding of the Pilot House Shipwrecks as Lynn Schwartz paved the way with her serving and defense. The Cape May Bombers erupted like a volcano showering P& K Associates wills serves and hard returns as they burned to a 15-13, 15-11, 19-17 triumph. Paul Plrontl sparked the Bomers in this longvolleying match, several lasting two and three minutes. Kahn’s Mugshots were rubbed out twice by a pair of fine teams, first place Cookie II and then Kona Sports took their measure. Tom Roth and Bob Greenfield of the Stumblers spelled disaster for Kona as they served and smashed their team to the match in the first two games. -4irior to their Kona ‘coast,’ the Stumblers fell to Riffraff in a longvolleying, hard-serving skirmish.
