Varsity Girls Going To Town On The Court The Varsity Girls' Basketball Team had posted a 12-3 record as of this compilation, some by such lopsided scores as 9113. 81-28. 82-15 and 90-23 Two of their three losses have been by slim margins 40-32 to Atlantic City. 4543 to Ocean City in overtime; only Pleasantville handing the women Panthers a less than enviable loss. 75-32. Coach Bill Penmans team is led in the scoring department by Launl Rudd, who now has over 920 lifetime points, with a 20.1 game average; Sue McKinley with an 18.3 average, and Ron Thompson, who is hitting the bucket to the tune of 11 4 points per game. Thompson is big in the assists and steals departments with 63 of the former and 46 of the latter as of a few games ago. Amy Revckman. with 50 assists and 39steals land 3.6points average) is also a hustler. Budd leads in the rebound statistics hands down, with 163 retrieves under the net {founding out this year's Panthers' squad are Kris Salvessen <6.5 points average). Caren Forbes (3.9). Girls Basketball Frosh Are Winners The team which has a record of eight wins and no losses is coached by Gary Barber who is very much impressed by this group "As a team, they are very smart, being able to pick up plays very fast and are very coachable. Their attitude’ is excellent and they like to play basketball in their spare time. For instance, they use the Avalon Community Center to practicwon Sundays. They intenal|to play as a team this summer and attend a basketball camp. "1 feel thUCthis is a very exceptional freshman class." the coach continued. "and in time will bring a championship to Middle Township High School. I believe that eight of the 15 girls on the squad are potential varsity players." Alan Malashevitz. Alfred Endicutt. Harry Downam and Marc Laspino. The soccer program completed its eighth year of organization and its sixth year of varsity play. This year's team demonstrated vez espirit de corps and teamwork to the extent that they have maximized the idea of what the game of soccer is all about. They played through adversity, with pain, and t# borrow the slogan of the Pittsburgh Pirates - "We are family." Much appreciation is
