Bill Extends Borrowing Age TRENTON - Senator James S. Cafiero, (R-Cape May Cumberland) report legislation amending the Public Employees' Retirement System Act to authorize a member to borrow from the system on the basis of his accumulated contributions beyond the age of 60 has passed the Senate. "Present law prohibits state employees from borrowing against their contributions to the retirement fund after age 60," explained Senator James Cafiero, who sponsored the bill "even though many employees, have expenses beyond that age such as sending children through college or graduate school. Many individuals plan to continue in the State service to age 65 and beyond if possible." Thousands Of Checks by Police AVALON - Police did a lot of checking here during 1979, according to the annual police report which showed 1,294 residential and 10,257 business checks. In addition there were 606 bank checks and 2.294 motor vehicle checks. There were 223 sick assists by ambulance and police car.

Theatre Group SOMERS POINT - Several Cape May County residents have been elected to the Board of Directors of the South Jersey Regional Theatre. They include Robert Uhrman of Seaville, Sheila Hollander of Northfield and Cape May; and Charles Pkkford, Robert Smith and Phil Turner of Ocean City. Ruth D. Traa of Linwood was elected to chair the board during the recent annual meeting at the Gateway Playhouse here, while Paul Aiken Jr. of Margate was renamed the theatre's executive director. Plans for an SJRT fundraising drive were discussed along with plans for the final three spring productions of the '79-80 season — Walt Unlit Dark (March), The Sea Horse (April) and Arsenic and Old Lace (May). 2nd Flea Market COURT HOUSE - The First Methodist Church, Rainbow Circle, will sponsor their Second Annual Flea Market 10 to 4 March 15, featuring 30 tables with collectibles, food, handcrafts and flea market items. The senior high MYF will be serving refreshments.

Guns Shows Readied RIO GRANDE - The volunteer fire company will be sponsoring a gun and military show every second Sunday of the month beginning March 9 at the fireball, Delsea Dr. and New York Ave. Doors will be open to the public from 9 a m. to 2 p.m.; donation will be $1, children under 12 free. Dealers are welcome to set up starting at 7:30 a.m .; tables are $5 each, two for $8 and three for $10. For more information call 4654086 after 5. The show will feature a buy-sell-trade and appraisals of guns, knives, swords, ammunition, old badges and other souvenirs.

Volunteers Sought To Aid Juveniles COURT HOUSE - Volunteers are being sought for appointment to Juvenile Conference Committees in the upper and lower portion of Cape May County According to Superior Court Judge Nathan Staller, county residents with an interest in the welfare, development and suf^rvision of juveniles are being sought The unpaid committee members would deal on a local level with juveniles who the Juvenile and ^Domestic Relations Court believes are delinquent or in need of adult supervision. Those with an interest in helping young people are

Bill Seeks To Restore Byrne Cuts TRENTON - A bill (o block the Byrne administration's plan to slash Cape May-Cumberland school transportation aid was introduced Feb 25. by Assemblymen James R Hurley and Joseph Chin hici. The cutback would cost Jersey Cape taxpayers some $400,000 according to the two legislators, who noted both rural counties are heavily dependent upon school bus transportation and fuel costs are rising If passed into las, the Hurley-Chinnici bill would maintain state tran sportation aid at current levels
