Legislation. Seen Aiding Workshop COURT HOUSE . tRecent passage of legislation providing for changes in the Sheltered Workshop Act have been termed "a real victory for the handicapped citizens of New Jersey.” That, according to George Plewa, executive director of the Jersey Cape Diagnostic, Training and Opportunity Center. According to Mr. Plewa, "the bill will benefit Cape May County's only shelter workshop.” The county
center employs 76 fulltime handicapped workers while engaging in subcontract and prime manufacturing work for local industry. "Our center had to absorb support costs of every person during their first 12 months of employment,” Mr. Plewa said following passage of BUI 3441. "In many cases it was as much as $1,500 per person.
