SHAWCREST - The Lower Township Committee is considering taking over the section of old Rio Grande Blvd. which parallels Rt. 47 on the north side of the George Reading Bridge near here. The state is anxious for the township to maintain the roadway, which was the main artery into Wildwood prior to construction of the new bridge in the late 1940s. However, the township is considering asking the state to apply a bituminous concrete overlay on the roadway, which is believed to be bascially sound, before assuming responsibility.
