Last week down at Breakwater Ptaza in Fishing Creek, Mario Andretti arrived after flying into the county airport in his Piper Phoenix, and started visiUng the stoTes in his shopping center where he was met by quite a few adults and children who wanted his autographed photos. Jack Salveson and I were tagging along watching as one of Jack’s senior citizen buses went by (they make regular stops at the shopping center). In the latter part of the afternoon, I followed shopping center co-owner John Ckcarone's son John bock to the airport, and along with John and Doug CallaUne, of Northwestern Mutual Life, watched Mario and his pilot take off with their guests to go back to Easton, Pa. The famed race car driver was then leaving from his home in Nazareth, Pa. to go to Long Beach, Calif, for some competitive racing. HOPEFULLY, after that

Mario will be able to bring one of his famous racing cars to Cape May County to show to all the local school kids that were in school during this happening. I had a lot of thoughts as I followed Mario around during the day, and as Capt. Bill Foster of Hatteras says: "When I get a thought I get dangerous.” However*, as I gazed over all that has been built in Lower Township. I was worried too because of the inflationary trends our country is following. I thought (to myself and out loud) that if we Americans concentrated on buying nothing but American-made goods, sold by American manufacturers, maybe our country would come through Just as it did in the days of Thomas Jefferson when it was also faced with losing its identity to foreign interests, HISTORY does have a way of repeating, and we must now look out for ourselves rather than accept the poverty that other countries would thrust upon us. Think of it: Am’erica for Americans! Now, as an angler I can, if I’m careful, keep all my gear American-made. My reels could all be manufactured by Penn My fishing rods could be custom made. My line could come from Cortland or Ash way oY Siren. I might have to make some of my lures, but I could still buy Hopkins and Uncle Josh pork rind I’m really serious about this thinking in every line
of endeavor I encounter because I believe that unless we start helping our own businesses with our purcliases. we will soon be controlled by foreign interests. Think about it as you go through your week and you’ll come to realize American made Is stillthr best Nufsed. LAST MINUTE Ne^s Flash: Bob Neely of Rio
Grande was telling me that Mackerel were taken on the Northeast end and were working towards five fathom monster buoy Mel Huffer confirmed this, saying rapt. Wayne Halbruner on the Golden Nugget had gotten 35 boxes there Mel also feels that we will have a terrific drum season- because the wind* have been in the right direction He also reported on a large catch of weakfish off North Carolina with some trout .going 25 pounds Good.news for us again, with these tiderunners headed our way
