CAPE MAY - Cape May's beloved "Miss Porter" — Helen Louise Porter — who has taught music appreciation to three generations of school children was honored during a .surprise ceremony Wednesday night at the Cape May City Elementary School. Miss Porter was led to believe she would be on hand to provide the piano accompaniment for an Easter play performed by third grade students. But, at the play's finale, school administrator John Demercst asked Miss Porter to leave the piano bench and join him at the microphone where she was presented with a corsage. DURING a subsequent ceremony, school board president Robert LeMunyon r%ad a resolution dedicating the auditorium in her honor, and board vice president Anita deSatnick unveiled a color portrait by artist Earle Allen that will hang there near the piano. The auditorium dedication resolution, passed jointly with the Parent Teachers Association, expressed appreciation to Miss Porter for having introduced the world of classical music to so many children. Since 1912, Miss Porter has told youngsters about opera, composers and Food Sale Thur.
