August 14 and 28. Each parade will begin 30 minutes before sunset. In past years the Sunset Parades have proven to be among the most popular events of the entire summer. BUT IF THESE Thursday evenings don't fit into your schedule, remember the public is invited to graduation exercises at the Training Center every Friday afternoon at 2:30. These ceremonies are as colorful and as full of pageantry as are the Sunset Parades. Ceremonies on April 18 and 25 will be in the TRACFN Gymnasium. Beginning on May 2, .the exercises will move outside to the Parade Grounds, weather permitting (in case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the gym). On May 9 'the TRACEN will be host to the Vice Commandant of the Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Robert H. Scarborough. In addition to touring the facilities, VADM ough will be the graduation speaker. IN CEREMONIES recently, Master Chief Petty Officer Steven Futrell retired after 25 years of service in the Coast Guard. MCPO Futrell had served most recently as Command Enlisted Advisor, a very important billet at the Training Center. For his excellent performance in this job, he was awarded the Coast Guard Commendation medal, which was presented to him by RADM Raymond H. Wood, Maritime Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Transportation. A certificate of appreication, signed by the Commandant, was given to MCPO Futrell’s wife Rose Mary, dting her support
