Mahoney: Tourism Needs Aid

WILDWOOD - Republican Congressional candidate John J. Mahoney, speaking April 8 before the Hotel-Motel Owners Association, said that the ruling of the Small Business Administration to delete the shore's hotels and motels along with the other tourist related businesses from its low interest loan program was absurd. "The multi-billion dollar tourism industry has to be aided," said Mahoney. "The lawmakers have left out cities up and down the coast saying that their problem is not gas related Just how Congress expects people to get to the hotels is unknown! ’* MAHONEY ALSO said that he fully supports every „small business, terming f udr enterprises the "bread and butter of America." He said the Small Business Administration is "Just another example of how complex and excessive regulations and laws hurt the people who are doing the most for America. I believe that middle America is mad enough at last to make a change." Mr. Mahoney told the asaociation that even the farmers who have machines running all day are not included in the loan program. . Mahoney blasted Congressman Hughes for "doing nothing more than playing games with the Democratic majority to reassure his re-election every two years. If we had only half the money Hughes cost the taxpayers in postage," said Mahoney, "we could improve the rail system to the shore.” THE CANDIDATE stressed the need for organizations like the Hotel Motel Association to keep its members informed about recent laws, new redtape from the government and ways to aid the tourism industry. "Tourism is the second largest industry in New Jersey," he noted, "and everything related to it must be considered when

controls are expanded. Gaa local hanks will all pay off for the area, low interest . ^ , a loam, CAFRA regulations ,or South JerMy in ^ ,0K * and added help from the run.”
