Boating Bears Brunt Of Energy Plan—Cafiero

WILDWOOD - Senator James Cafiero has called upon his colleagues to Join him in objecting to the Standby Em^cjency Energy Plan proposed by the U S. Department of Energy. The plan, while designed to curtail the over-use of fuel during an "energy emergency." is according to Cafiero extremely discriminatory since it is directed at cutbacks in fuel used for only one recreational actively boating. Mr. Cafiero said the plan would affect not only pleasure boating on weekends, but woGld also ban the letting of commercial party boats for sport fishing. "The proposed restrictions would have a disastrous effect on the boating and fishing industry in this state and would adversely affect the economy of^Jew Jersey in general and the shore areas in particular. The importance of this industry itself and its relation to tourism in the State must be recognized by the Federal Government," Mr. Cafiero stated.
