Peterson Files for Re-election COURT HOUSE - Middle Township Committeewoman Patricia Peterson had announced she will lie a candidate for a full three-year term on the municipal Roveming body. Mrs. Peterson was victorious last November in a contest for the final year of an unexpired term •of former Committeeman Robert Engle. She had earlier been named by the two ' remaining Committeemen. Mayor Samuel DeVico and Joseph Walsh, to hold the post for the balance of las! year before having to stand election for the final year. RUNNING WITH Mayor DeVico. Mrs. Peterson, a Democrat like the mayor, won by a 1,550-1.400 vote margin over her opponent She is the first woman ever to serve on the governing body. A Rio Grande resident, heading the public works department is her principal responsibility. It was her involvement in the township’s highway, sewer, lighting and drainage problems that brought her to the attention of the electroate several years ago. At that lime she spearheaded a group from the new Rio Vista Village to bring their problems to township committee. DURING HER more than year in office, Mayor DeVico said Mrs. Peterson has earned the respect of township workers and residents for her willingness to help pitch in with the work crews in getting jobs done. She is repeatedly on hand whenever any crisis, large or-small, faces the township.
