TRENTON - The state Div. of Travel & Tourism was scheduled this week to conduct New Jersey’s first foreign press tour, including visits to Jersey Cape
resorts.
The group of 14 travel writers originating from Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt and Switzerland, were to< arrive at Newark International Airport May 11 to start tneir one-week familiarization tour of the Garden State. TRENTON — The threat of rain has temporarily postponed federally sponsored spraying against gypsy moths until early next week in Cape May County, a spokesperson for the U.s. Department of Agriculture said ytster-

spraying of Seven had been scheduled to begin over Cape May County campground areas later this week but was rescheduled. ACCORDING TO the USDA spokesperson, the aerial spraying of campground areas will be in the early morning.
"The planes will probably wake you up as they go over," the spokesperson said in response to a woman living near one of the campgrounds who called the special number (292-5389) seeking information about the controversial spray (Page28Please) '
Fox Calls Benefit Cuts-Thoughtless’
"The treatment of the retired and elderly who are having their unemployment benefits cut because of a new law from Washington is thoughtless and inconsiderate, according to Beech N. Fox, Second District Republican candidate for Congress.
"These people were
never told in plain English why this is happening br even that relief is possible if their senators and congressmen would work a little faster," Mr. Fox said
in a press release.
He also said he was disturbed by "conspicuous lack of leadership displayed by Congressman
Bill Hughes on this issue. “THERE WE HAVE retired people working long hard hours in our summer tourist industry so they can get a little unemployment
to survive during the winter months, without going on welfare,” Mr. Fox said. "Then their unemployment gets cut by 96

Middle Twp. Band Now Known North Of The Border Too

COURT HOUSE — The Panther Marching Band of Middle Township High School captured two awards at the International Blossom Festival in Niagara Fails, Canada Numbering 87 members, the band took first place in the Under 100 Member category and fourth place in the Overall competition. The band traveled in three buses accompanied by 49 parents and was sway from Thursday to Monday The competition included 48 bands from 10 eastern states and

Band director Dick Ludwig said the Panthers were especially gratified to beat out McKean High School of Wilmington, which had beaten Middle Township in the Veterans Stadium competition by 0.2of a point. The cost of the trip was raiaed by the band members and their Booster Club who conducted an antique show and •old flowers aadheaftes. , The next appearance of the award-winning band will be 10 a.m. on Memorial Day, May fcfin the American Legion parade in Cape May Court House.
