COURT'’HOUSE - Middle T<Avnship Uttle League opened the 1980 season recently at the Boyd St. Field with ceremony and awards. Township Committeewoman Pat Peterson and Recreation Director Gregg Arnold . spoke briefly before the awards were given out for selling candy bars. The grand prixe, an electronic game machine, was won by Carol Blum. The various division winners included: Tee Ball League — Phillies — Nicole Lynch; Dodgers - Billy adams; Royals — Eric Vance; Yankees — Carol Blum. Pirates - Ricky Murphy. Each winner received a pair of baseball shoes donated by Smith's Bootery, Steve Or m rod won the drawing for these winners, an electronic baseball machine Major League — Winner of portable TV. Scott Dempsey. Team winners: Middle Diner — Teddy Marriner; First Methodist — John Keith; Ray’s Texaco Tom Tease; McClures Gulf — Barry Mossbrooks; Lyn's Deli — Shawn Jones; Radzieta's — Richard Taylor; Marine Bank — Lawren Holloway; Dee Lumber - Mike Chew. The drawing for these winnere. a $50 prize, went to Frank Deal. The team winners received . shoes from Smith's Bootery. Senior League — Winner ' of $75 prize Joe Fulford. The senior division had Jamesway managed by Nick Turcello, assisted by Ed Price. These boys are 13-15 years old. Mid Jersey Cdpe Rotary is managed by Bud Blood with Jack Bossuyt as assistant. Tennis (From ft* 22) by devastating Steve Conger &-0, 6-1 Hicks patiently passed him with stellar shots. Harrison dropped his second singles match to Charles Bauman 6-1. 6-2.' Stone fought Jeff Mott, but was bewildered by the top . spin and steadiness of Jeff losing 6-1,6-4. In the first doubles, Wayne Rowe and Walker took advantage of Ocean City’s Rocky Constantino and Jerry Rutledge by taking an impressive tiebreaking first set victory. Ocean City rebounded strongly and returned to win the next two sets 6-0.6-3 and the match. Be rule Blanks and Rond battled Tom Heist and Jeff Mormson in a see-saw first f Set but fell to a 6-4 defeat ’ Bond hit vicious net smashes, but it wasn’t enough as they folded in the second ‘•<*t 6-2.
