•) Hurley For Pinelands Showdown

MILLVILLE — Assemblyman James Hurley has accused the New Jersey Pinelands Commission of attempting to prepare a “master plan for a power grab" and he said he is attempting to rally South Jersey legislators in an all out effort to slop it THe New Jersey Pinelands Commission unveiled its latest controls devices and plans at a meeting recently jn Pemberton. The Commission is seeking input and sending up trial ballons prior to offering its long heralded Master Plan for the preservation of the midsection of New Jersey * The Commission has clearly overstepped the bounds of its authority, according to Mr Hurley. "For example, one of its proposals for southern Cape May County calls for a density of 39 acres per family. That is ludicrous." The Cumberland-Cape May Assemblyman said he intended to place everybody on notice that he would fight the measure both at home and in Trenton. "I reassert my belief in preserving the important area of the Pinelands. But to put practically every acre in South Jersey under a bureaucratic power grab is against the public , interest,” he asserted.
