MALACHI 3:10

Over this past week a big switch has taken place in the Bay Moat of the party boats and private boats are working areas inside of 14 Foot Light and south of Brandywine Shoal while a smaller portion of the fleet is still fishing around Bug Light. Reports were many and scattered, but there have been a lot of big weakfish taken in the Brandywine area; also.off the punk grounds inside of 14 Foot Light. Last Saturday though. Mark Elliot and Jeff Severance on the Gone Fiahin* out of Bidwells Creek got a 70 lb. drum, and a 60 lb. drum and three weakfish at Bug Light. I HAD DINNER that same night over at Palmer Ways with Capt. Bob Bennett, who runs the party boat Tuna and does commercial fishing. After dinner CapL Bob presented each of us with some nine and 10 lb. weakfish he had netted in the ocean. He also gave us some 2 lb. bluefish from the same haul. He said that big weakfish are spread from the mouth of the bay clear up to Cold Spring Inlet — so it looks as though Ihe best of the tiderunner fishing is still to come. On Monday of this past week, Capt. Tom Roberts on the My Gal had a threefourths box full of big weaks and blues for his party inside 14 Foot, and that night everyone scored on drum. Randy Monaghan had eight on his boat Capt. Walt Haas on the Hawser had four drum for his party. Wayne Maglll out of Bayview Marina christened his new boat with four drum. Wayne got a 72 pounder himself, and Joe Skill got a 47 lb. humpback. Capt. Dick Weber on the Bonito got eight drum. The big weakfish hit ,100: Wayne Magill had h 14 pounder. Billy Mulligan of the Inn had three 11 lb. weakfish along with three drum, and Capt. Dave Roseman on the Top Drawer II had four drum for his party. TUESDAY WAS another great night for drum: George Seabrook and son had 11 on their boat; Capt. Dick Weber got another six drum on the Bonito, and Joe Rodia had two anglers — David Lelninger, of Rio Grande, and David Eighty of Carneys Point — each weighing in an 88M» lb. drum that created a tie in the Delaware Bay Drumfish Derby this week. Palmer Way, along with his wife Glnny, son John and a friend of John's out on the Ginger, caught three drum, Ginny was the only one left out. Capt. "HI" Thompson had Charlie Zaimes out on the RJg Jim II. and Charley, editor of Anglers News, watched "Hi” gaff a drum from way up on the deck of the 92 foot boat, and said it was the neatest gaffing job he’d ever seen. The Big Jim came in with a load of big weakfish that night. WEDNESDAY NIGHT Was a little rougher, but because of the big drum catches, a lot of fishermen showed up. Capt. Dick Weber on the Bonito quit early because,'he said, his party had 15 drum in three days, and they were just plain tired. Capt. Date
