First to Get Scholarship Graduating

AVALON — Doreen Drexel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Petrica of 294-65th St., will receive^ her bachelor of science degree in Health and Physical Education from Frostburg State College in Western Maryland this

month.

A 19/6 graduate of Middle Township High School where she was a member of the Women’s Field Hockey. Basketball, and Softball teams, Miss Drexel received the first

physical education scholarship ever offered

there.

During her college years, she Was involved in women's field Hockey, Volleyball and Basketball; was a member of Phi Sigma Chi Women's Athletic Sorority and held thef office of president for the past two years. Miss Drexel hopes to return to Cape May County to pursue a teaching career in health and physical education.

Doreen Drexel Concert May 28 ERMA — The Lower Cape May Regional High School Music Department will present its 20th annual program, 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 in the high school auditorium. The Jazz Rand, under the direction of Edward Jurewizc, will open* the program with several selections including • Azure" by Duke Ellington and "Stompin at the Savor" by Benny Goodman. Gloria I.uck win be featured vocal soloist with the Jazz Band in ••Cabaret." Trombone soloist, and Chris Barker and Shawn Ahadie will be featured on thesakaphone Linda McVey and Mary Donaldson are flute soloists. The 100-voice choir, with Paul Douglas directing, will present "Fiddler on the Roof" selections, with A1 Christie as soloist and Jay Driscoll as narrator. Also on the program are two medleys from "The Muppet Movie" and the •Broadway production "Purlie."
