Free Plots In

Veterans’ Cemetery

RIO GRANDE - Veterans living in Cape May County who wish to be Interred in the new Cape May County Memorial Park and Cemetery at Crest Haven on the Garden State Parkway will be eligible for burial accoading to the same rules which apply at federal Veterans Administrationoperated cemeteries', according to Myrtle Hevener, veterans service officer and supervisor of veterans interment. She said 8,500 Jersey Cape veterans and their spouse will have accen to free plots in the 6,30(Vgrave cemetery, which was dedicated by the county on

Sunday.

To be eligible veterans

must have served during war time, be honorably discharged, and residents of the county. Spouses will be buried next to their husbands if special application is made at the time of the veteran's death, Mrs. Hevener said. Each grave will be marked with a special bronxe marker from the Veteran’s Administration in keeping with federal standards. The flat marker make it easier to maintain the gravesites, Mrs. Hevener noted. Information on applications for burial in the new cemetery are being processed by the cape May County Veterans Bureau which has offices in the Social Services Building in

Rio Grande.
