elsewhere, meeting 14 persons in the county and five in Philadelphia. THOSE ARRESTED were charged with con J spiring to acquire and distribute substantial quantities of methamphetamines and other drugs. According to Chief of County Detectives Bill Matthews, at one time the "meth" was being manufactured in Cape May Point. The local operation “got spooked," he said, and the drugs were allegedly being produced elsewhere at the timeof the raids. MATTHEWS DESCRIBED the bust as "one of the biggest meth operations in ,a few years," explaining that the drug was being made in such quantities that it was being bought and sold by the pound. The detective chief said the arrests came about when it was "brought to our attention by one lone patrolman in Cape May Point, Sandy McPherson. It was around January," Matthews continued, "that McPherson reported •something fishy down there.'" REFERRING TO McPherson. a part-time special officer who wtfrked also with the West Cape May PD until it was disbanded a month ago, Matthews said, "He was concerned about his little, quiet borough." The county detective said it was the quietude of the small community that probably attracted those allegedly involved in the drug operation. Matthews described some of those arrested as businessmen and the rest "just ordinary people." "BAIL FOR THE 19 totalled over 11.4 million and ranged from $150,000 cash bail to $10,000 ten

Grace Slick's first solo album since departing from The Jefferson Starship is a cohesive, entertaining record. Covering. a variety of styles, Grace Slick proves to be a capable vocalist and writer. At times, things tend to be over-arranged, drowning her talents, but overall, "Dreams" (RCA) is good, listening and promises Grace Slick will leave her mark without the security of The Jefferson SUhErtiip Elvis Costello and The Attractions have reached their finest moment with "Get Happy’U(Columbia) Elvis Costello has studied the greats of sixties ft&B music to make one of the best white soul albums since The Rascals used to top the charts. The sound is raw and rocking, with Elvis showing more depth than before as a singer. Hopefully, Elvis Costello will continue to work in this genre, as it's perfect for him. Besides, in this day and age, who can resist 22 tunes on an album. That's a bargain few could pass up. The Juke Jumpers are a fun Tekas band with roots in both the blues and rockabilly. "Border Radio” is the title of their new album and it's a good showcase of their talents. Doing mostly covers of obscure tunes, The Juke Jumpers plow through each track with a Urey passion that could only be the result of love for this great music. If it's unavailable locally try writing to Amazing Records, P.O.a Box 26265, Fort Worth, Texas 76116. Also, the loader of The Juke Jumpers, Jim Golegrove, has a solo album that should be checked out. While on the subject of the blues, I should mention Doug Sahm's excellent "Hell of a Spell" (Takoma). Sahm has returned to his first love, the blues he heard while growing up in Texas, and his sincerity and talent make for a thoroughly enjoyable set. Those who’ve followed his spotty career already know Sahm to be a gifted artist, but with the soulful
