Entries for the 24th annual Cape May County Marlin Tournament are being received, according to Jersey Cape Sportfishing Tournament committee chairman Carl Galiantino
of East Lansdown, Pa The tournament is set for
July IS and 16 with July 17 if weather cancels one or the other of the two scheduled days. Registration will be Monday evening, July 14, at the Create Bay Country Club, with the tournament dinner set for Thursday,
July 17.
IN ANNOUNCING the tournament dates, Galiantino also named the committee for the I960 sports fishing event. Art Henry of Margate is tournament director. The Jersey Cape Sportfishing tournament committee annually sponsors the marlin tournament. Meeting at the Create Bay Country Club recently, the committee voted to allow boats participating in the tournament to remain at sea overnight after the first day of fishing rather than to report back to port. In announcing the rules' change, toifrnament director Henry said the committee felt fuel costs and fuel conservation were factors in allowing those boats which desired to stay offshore to do so without being disqualified. FISHING HOURS for the tournament will remain the same with only those fish hooked between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the actual

fishing days to be counted for score. He also said the decision to remain at the ocean fishing grounds would be at the discretion
of the skipper of each boat. The Cape May county
tournament is one of the oldest of its kind on the
East Coast and has been recognized a
sportman's fishing event, with the emphasis on the releasing of fish rather than to capture and kill them. Anglers will receive 75 points for all released fish, and will be allotted a point per pound if the fish is brought to port. The point per pound allocation will prevail, however, only if the fish is to be mounted as a trophy. The rules are written to discourage bringing fish to port for
photographic purposes. TOURNAMENT co-dir-
ectors include Henry Peddle of Avalon and Mike Zicarelli of Highlands, N.J. Dr. Carl Filsinger of Merchantville is tournament treasurer Lou Rodia of Cape May Court House is tournament secretary. Other members
of the committee include: James and Nontas
Kontes of Vineland; James Accardi of Ocean City; Wilson Thom of Stone Harbor; Paul Burton Jr. of Stone Harbor; W. Scott Smith of Newtown Square, Pa.; Karl Lukens of Cheltenham, Pa. and Stone Harbor, Stanley Haines of Somers Point; Olin Woolson of Wildwood Crest, and Lou Quillen of
Wynnewood, Pa.
FREEHOLDER Anthony Catanoso of North Wikl-
is honorary tour-
nament chairman. Other honorary committee members are Dr. Irv Sussman of Bridgeton and Stone Harbor and Jules Slevin of Stone Harbor. _
