This last weekend showed a real good variety of catches both in the Bay and the Ocean, but 1 believe that the thunderstorms. which were extremely heavy at times, will finally have an effect on the drum, and make them move. Whether they'll move completely out of the Bay or not remains to be seen. In the meantime, a lot of anglers have been trying other species in the Ocean, and a lot of catches have been made. C’apt. Al Nace on the llucklebuck II, with Randy Ijindeman mating, took a party of Philadelphia anglers out on the South Shoal, and came back with 68 slammer Mues ranging from R to 12

lbs.

STAN SHAPIRO, who runs the Ijidy 8 out of Kosemans, was down in the Musselbeds and caught some nice big weak fish. The topper was 11 lbs. lo ozs. which Capt. Stan himself caught. The biggest catch, though, was on the Plunger, also out of Rosemans Charles Dooner came back with a 159 lb. tuna which has been called a yellowfin. and also a big eye. I believe it was a big eye, especially after seeing an identification book at Joe Rodias, but whichever, it was it's a nice catch. Charlies laid out overnight in Baltimore Canyon with his son, and they brought it back to the boatyard Saturday afternoon. QUITE A FEW of us diehards are still drumming, and on Saturday night Joe llalbruner of the shunpike in North Cape Ma^, Carl Omer, and Ed Wehrle. went out on the Janie TV II and we got one 70 lb. drum which Joe caught. We were east of 14 Foot Light; and quite a few drum have been taken in this location, but I think they'll be further down the Bay in coming weeks. Joe Rodia confirmed the drum catches during the week: Jim Nash of Mayville had three up to 65 lbs. Thursday. Tommy Jorgensen of Wildwood had two big ones, and Warren tand of Cape May got four drum on his boat. JOE RODIA'S Weakfish Contest wound up this week With the winner being Robert Clark of West Cape May, with a 14 lb. 10 oz. tiderunner. Next was Ed Tetee of Erma, with a 12 lb 10 oz. weakie, and third place was taken by Stew Dempster of Wildwood, with a biggie that went 11 lbs. 14 oz. JOE ALSO TOLD me that Cpt. Bill Ifenfy reported on the catches of the Sea Raider docked at Wildwood Yacht Basin. Cpt. Bill fished several clubs including the Philadelphia Police Officers. and has been doing real good on weaks at Somers Shoal and McCries, and one day they caught a load of sea bass 14 miles off Cape May. 1 WAS JUST in time Wednesday to see Cpt. Jim Ciccfcitii dock the Starlight at Cpt. Blakes’ dock in Wildwood Crest. On his daytime run, Cpt. Jim had a mixed bag of big weaks and nice flounder for his party, and on the night run the evening before Cpt.

Dave Ctcchltt! used lights on the Starlight, and the party loaded up with 200 big blues. At the Lower Township

Ovamber of Commerce meeting Wednesday night, it was decided that the Delaware Bay Drum fish awards dinner will be July 20 at the Pirates Den in Villas Reservations arc held to 50 persons plus the awards winners Don't forget Joe Rodia s Cape May County Marlin Tournament July 15. 16 & 17. That will be a big week!

STAN SHAPIRO of Cherry Hill who runs the Ijidy 8. out of Roseman's, displays the 11 lb. 10 oz. weakfish he caught at the Musselbeds. Weakfish activity was exceptionally good in this area last weekend.
