SOMERS POINT - William Jenkins, executive vice president of Shore Memorial Hospital, has announced the receipt of checks amounting to more than $117,000 as the first payments under the terms of the will of the late Howards. Stainton Shore Memorial Hospital is one of the principal beneficiaries of the legacy of the Ocean City merchant and real estate developer. 159,999 OF THE amount received represents a bequest from the Stainton estate; the balance is the hospital’s portion of profits generated from various Stainton enterprises in 1979.

Under terms of the will, SMH will receive continuing payments over 20 years or more with the amounts depending upon the profits made and the final disposition of the assets. "FOR MANY YEARS. "Jenkins noted, "Mr. Stainton was active on the hospital’s board of trustees and was always supportive of its development programs. Receipt of these funds at this particular time will be extremely helpful in aiding to defray the costs of a new emergency wing, groundbreaking for which took place last week.
