Wednesday, I saw my old friend BUI Kteb. who used to run Snow Products down at the airport, and we spent a pleasant half-hour talking "You ought to go down to Cape Island's East basin, and see the boat that's docked there now, he told me "She's called the Yellow Submarine and she’s completely rigged for twordAshfaig.” THIS REALLY made me curious, so I stopped by and sure enough, there she was — a 28ft fibreglass with a big tuna tower, and twin 8cylinder diesels. She was fitted with every kind of electronics, and according to my old friend Earl Coleman, who is once again dockmaster at the East Basin, she'll do 48 knots — and that’s fast. ' Her owner is only interested in swordfishing, and he's her rigged to specialize in this type of fishing. I believe she’s the only boat of her kind, and I’m glad I got a chance to see her. We’ll probably hear of some swordfish being taken by this boat before this season in over. BACK ON THE fishing scene I talked to Chris at Jims Bait A Tackle in Cape May, and he said most, of the hd&dboats are still running to the musselbeds for big weakfish, and when it gets too rough they're laying in under the beach for flounder. Most of the flounder have been a little small. We were laying alongside of Cpt. Tom Roberta on the My Gal, and he had a good catch of those pan size flatties, but the real big catches have been on the trolling boats. CPT. STEVE REA on the Blvo had two really successful days this past week on Five Fathom Bank loading his box each day with slammer blues. Randy Laudeman of Roseman’s boat yard was telling me that a few boats had located big weakies between McCries and FA buoy. This would be a lot easier spot to reach. The general theory is that the weaks are moving north, so I guess we’re going to see

mort action around 4FB, FFB, and the Northeast end from now on. JULY 4th and the weekend catches were really hampered by the dense fog that appeared off our coast. Most of the big slammer blues had been caught by trolling boats on Wednesday and Thursday at 4FB and Five Fathom light tower, but on Friday and Saturday only the boats that had radar or daring skippers did any fishing. The majority of big blues had shown up at 4FB, so on July 4th Palmer Way, John Magnarrao, and I started out there on the Janie TV II, and worked inside the fleet for awhile, but we decided the fog was too risky, so we came in skunked. CPT. FRANK GASSEDY. on the Lady Grace reported that he was picking those big blues, and had a pretty good catch. As we were coming in Cpt. Steve Rea on the Bivo was going out with a party to fIBh late, and then view the fireworks off Cape May. CPT. DICK WEBER on the Bonito did the smart thing He headed down towards Washington canyon with his party, and came back with a nice yellow fin tuna. IN THE MEANTIME white marlin showed up in Baltimore Canyon on the 40 fathom line. Cpt. B|air and Stan Hansen along with Bill Bright and Mike? of ftoseman's Board Yard had the right idea too. They headed for Baltimore Canyon and hit the Jackpot Wonder Women In Benefit Tues. SEA ISLE CITY-South Jersey’s famed Wonder Women softball team, chached by Tom Watkins will play the bartenders from Kix. for the benefit of the Townsends Inlet Volunteer Fire Company. TTie game will be played at Dealey Field starting at 6:30 July 15. Donations for the fire company will be accepted.

4FB (Southern Buoy) turned out to be the beet place for Mg blues as Cpt. Frank Thompson on the Rebel B made a good haul for this party there, and according to Cpi. Scott at Sooth Jersey Fishing FA Hnntlng center, the Delaware boats came back with 28 20 lb. bluefin tuna, so there’s another species thats available within range of the Cape May-

bnsed boats. EVERYTHING’S GO for South Jersey Fishing and Hunting Center’s tournament this weekend. At last count 40 boats were entered from all over the East Coast, and the conditions look right for a good tournament. Right on the'bee Is of this contest will come the Cape May County Marlin Tournament, so it looks like canyon fishing will have the spotlight this next
