Party boat operator! have been having quite a probiem lately with aome of their night farea. One boat lost seven rods and another time three reels were missing and line stripped off several more. The captain of this particular boat called ahead to the police to meet him at the dock, but there was no proof of theft, because some of rods had been thrown overboard. The only thing the police could book this fare on was disorderly conduct and foul and abusive language ONE OF THE OTHER big party boats had a streaker who stripped off all his clothes and dove off the bow. By some miracle he missed getting chewed up in the big wheels that drives a party boat, but it makes you v%nder why these people have to act like animals The party boat captains try their best but there’s bound to be a day when fishing is off, and if you

can't accept that, then you shouldn't go fishing. I haven’t mentioned any of the party boats names purposely because I don't see any valid reason for doing so ON A BRIGHTER vein, I heard from Marcy May that Cpt- Jim Sony had a real good day Friday on weakfish and bluefish on the Fiesta. Marcy was out there with her neice Vanessa Demencrak, and Vanessa, is 8 years old, caught a 9 lb. 7 oz. weakfish all by herself. Marcy had a bluefish that went over 12 lbs., but she was a lot more excited over Vanessa’s tidenmner, which they entered in the county contest. CPT. JIM found those fish out near FB right on top of the water ... IN THE FIRST day of the South Jersey Fishing and Hunting Center White Marlin Tournament with 60 boats competing, they had 38 whites with 11 releases, and 27 bill fish taken. The big fish of the day was an 85 lb. white marlin which was taken by angler J^rry MooMrick on the boat Ftesty. The big fish was 97 inches long and eventually took first place in the tournament. Second place was a tie with the boats four-in-one and Miss Penfield each taking a 72 lb. white marlin. Third place was taken by the boat Primetime with a 88 pounder THE WINNER Ftesty was from Oak Grove Marina in Edgewater, Md. Boats from all over the East Coast participated in the contest. Most of the action was on the 30 Fathom Line which is pretty close in, although the winning fish was taken in the tip of Baltimore Carfyon on the 55 Fathom

line.

SOME TUNA were taken in the deep hole, but these were mostly in the 35 to 50 lb. range and nothing like last year’s catch during this same event when many fish (Tuna) in the 100 to 300 lb. class were taken. This Tuesday, canyon boats will again take off for the deep water in search of white marlin, and it looks from the catches of this j tournament like they ought i to have some terrific bill fishing during their twoday tourney. This year in the Cape May County Tournament, I the boats are going to be allowed to stay out overnight to conserve fuel, and this will undoubtedly result in heavier catch and release totals... FINALLY, the best is always last. Cpt. Steve Rea, on the Bivo sent me word of a party from Elmer who caught 41 slammer blues with him at the Bank Buoy on Friday. They were in the six to 12

lb. class.

The party consisted of Linda Scbouppe and her four children, Tammy. Billy, Steve and Sharon. Linda's husband, who fished with Ct. Steve pretty regular, was killed in an I auto accident last year, and she is trying to keep
