Just as Cinderella was to turn into a pumpkin if she stayed out after midnight, so was the Old Sport to be turned into Farmer Bill if he didn't get his colummn written by the deadline. So here goes for this week. The Old Sport has been inspired to take up his pen by two young readers of the column. Farmer Bill sold some fruit to their mother and they particularly enjoyed it (or so they said) because it came from the Old Sport. I HOPE BY this timtyou readers — all five of you — are not too confused to understand that the summer time, when Mother Nature gives out with the vegetables and fruit, tha/)ld Sport transposes "Blue Boy,” his pick-up, into a huckster's Wagon and becomes Farmer Bill — bringing "goodies from the garden” to local residents, dwellers in the campgrounds and summer people in Stone Harbor and Avalon. Thus, he also picks up tidbits of sports news. FIRST, FROM fene Sanders and Mike McLaughlin who manage the softball team sponsored by Jake Wright of the Ugly Mug in Cape May — comes an abundance of softball information. This aggregation of star athletes is probably the best softball team in Cape May Coupty. Besides holding down first place in the County Softball League, they have engaged in several weekend tournaments, traveling to Somerville where they finished second in "C” flight, Mercer County, where they won three games on Saturday, but were defeated twice on Sunday. THEY ALSO conducted a tournament sponsored by Kramer ’ Beverage of Wildwood, in Cape May County. This was called the Ed Miller Memorial 4th Annual Tournament. First prize was a $600 gift certificate, second prize a $300 gift certificate, and third prize a $150 gift certificate. It wound up a tie between Flanagan's Electric of Millville and Harry's Village Mobile Homes of Cardiff when darkness set in preventing the final
