Burnette.

Rocky Burnette's dad, Johnny Barnette, was one of the great rockers, and, although he died in 1964, his demented brand of rock lives on through his son. "The Son Of R6ck And Roll” (EMI) captures Rocky Burnette in fine form. With a fairly modem backing, he still keeps the basic raw sound of rockabilly giants such as Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Barnette thanks to his passionate vocals. Rocky breathes fire into bis performances, and he’s sure to be more than a onehit wonder. If there’s a rock and roll heaven, I’m , sure his dad las a big grin

on his face.

Angel City is a hard driving rock band from Australia that should have no trouble winning over the heavy metal crowd. Solid vocals and tight musicianship make them stand out against their rather weak competition.

Eric Carmen's new album, "Tonight You’re Mine" (Epic) is better than most of his recent solo material, but it’s still not on par with his classic recordings with the often misunderstood . Raspberries. Here, the ballads S rk but the rockers fail. ic Carmen just isn’t convincing anymore. A good way of catching up with the latest trends in England is to pick up "The Last Compilation Until The Next One" (Stiff). Sixteen British artists'are each given a song, and, considering most of them were on the English charts, this is quite a bargain. Personal favorites are the mod-pop sounds of The Chords, the always eccentric Wreckless Eric, the R&B based Dexy's Midnight Runners, and the ska band Madness. This is the perfect introduction to a lot of talented musicians, who have more great records waiting to be heard.

Special Cop Unit Urged AVALON — Police Chief Joseph Foley has requested funding for a 15man special police unit nextsumpier. His proposal was aired at the July 25 Council meeting in response towhat Council president Phillip Judyski termed a public outcry over noise, vandalism and other wrongdoing.
