FREE SOLAR ENERGY. ,. An electric clothes dryer demands more electricity (5000 watts) than any other major appliance in your home. Fortunately, you can replace your electric clothes dryer with free solar energy—by the use of your clothesline. / H you use your clothesline during the Energy Rush Hours, or use your clothes dryer only before lO a.m. and after lO p.m., you can help reduce high peak demands for electricity that can lead to higher rates, brownouts and blackouts. Here are four more way* to avoid the Energy Rush Hours: Hot Water: Wash your clothes in coW water Bathe and .do your dishwashing only betore or after the Energy Rush Hours Air Conditioner: Don't let your atr conditioner be an [ nerg. each time we ran over them. At the end of the day we counted out 14 big blues and a skipjack, so we didn't actually get skunked. CAPT. AL ROSE on the Hucklebuck had a party out that same day, and after working out near Five Fathom Light with some success, wound up in sight of the condominium off Wildwood with a school of “splashers," and a box full of big blues for his party. On Tuesday, Palmer Way took the Ginger and a group of banker friends out to Five Fathom Light, and caught eight big blues while the rest of the party boatfleet headed up to the northeast end for tuna. I’M NOT SURE how the fleet made out, because there were heavy thunder showers Tuesday afternoon. I hope they hit those tuna, because on Thursday the first of the tuna clippers showed up in Cold Spring Harbor, and tuna usually get mighty scarce after they arrive. I do know that most of the partyboat fleet found good size flounder in the 20 Minute Slough off Cape May, and that later on in the week they were all working in the bay on those nice size weakfish m have shown up there again. NOW I MENTIONED about two weeks ago about the trouble the head boat skippers have been having
with dmiks and poor losers aboard. Well, after charges and counter charges) the Lower Township municipal judge took a dim view of these actions, and on Monday night he made a landmark decision in favor of the captain who had summoned the police to meet his boat at the dock to arrest the offender. This particular fellow was fined heavily, and told that next time would mean a jail sentence — so maybe now the poor losers, and the -^heavy-drinking fisherman will use their heads aiki stay on the dock. THE CAPTAIN MUST have complete authority on the water because too many lives are at stake. Our local fishing' population were shocked and saddened at the tragic death of Joe Roop Jr., age 22, aboard the Linda Lee, a clammer which v/as working 60 miles offshore in heavy seas. The first report of the accident reached land Thursday, and all of us who go to the sea in ships want to express our regrets to his widow and child. Young Joe was grandson of former mayor Joseph Roop of Erma, and he and his father have been well known to all of us here on the Jersey Cape. It’s hard to know just what to say at a time like this, except that we are all terribly sorry that this accident happened.
