If we Could encourage them to inspect the buildings themselves, then possibly we could prevent the loss of property and lives," he said. Tentative date for the next seminar is Oct. 24. Anne Schoen Anti-Duplex Ordinance Adopted AVALON — Borough Council held its second public hearing on the controversial issue of zoning ,for the 39 available bayfront lota between 2lat and 24th Sts. Single-family residence owners feared density, traffic coniestion and parking problems with the addition of duplex homes. It Was generally agreed there should be no time-lag in passing the ordinance restricting the erection of Duplex properties to lots with 50-foot frontage and cifbic ft. It was then pointed our by counsel that this could not be legally accomplished in less than 37 day?. ( Angry murmurs from the near -capacity audience prompted council president Phillip Rudyski to. request quiet. "This issue has split the council more than any to date," he said: Councilwoman Grace Keen and Rachel Sloan urged the point of fairness to realty owners as did councllmen •lames Busha and Raymond Gray. It was * advocated, following sqch lenghty arguments that council put the matter to an immediate vote within hearing of the assembly. It was agreed among council members that October 1, 1980 should be the date on which the ordinance should take effect. Council members Judyski and Gray abstained from voting to prevent any possible, future pharges of conflict of interest, ‘ Helen Rowland
