AT THE previous meeting she explained her vote against the meagre as opposition to /earmarking an appropriation this year for an expenditure next year. In voting for the measure on final reading, however, she explained she had been informed that by renewing the surface of a road reconstructed the year before, the life of the roadway could be increased by about 10years. The governing body is now committed to continuing a road maintenance program which had been deviated from several years ago when budget ' transfers were made from the Rond Dept, to other areas of the budget to gain local funding for capital improvement programs. PRIATION measures had originally been part of an overall package or ordinances totaling $336,000 and authorizing a maximum of almost $308,000 in bonds or notes, which came before the Committee for initiation at

the July 14 meeting.

The governing body failed to act at the earlier meeting on a $160,000 authorization to purchase a maintenance building at the County Airpark for township road and trash collection equipment storage and servicing. A $35,000 authorization ($33,250 in bonds or notes) also wasn’t moved at the previous meeting which would have provided funds for the purchase cl the

TOWNSHIP TREASURER Wade Cooper was vexed by the governing tody's failure to act at the earlier meeting on the appropiation measures, especially for the maintenancebuilding. "I disagree with the committee.” he said July 14, saying that the Committee should have introduced all the measures and been guided by the public’s reaction at the public hearing. As a result of the full Committee's failure to act, he saidv the needed

maintenance building was “lost,” and that such a facility would cost rtiore when the governing body finally reached a consensus to fund It.' THE PROPANE storage tanks cahnbt be installed In the present township maintenance gar. behind the old township hall in Cold Spring because it's too close to adjoining property. The Road Dept, has outgrown the existing garage which, it is said, Cannot be suitably enlarged. There was no public opposition during the public hearing on the. appropriation ordinances July 28 - the major discussion from the audience concerning the proper method of applying stones to newly oil road surfaces, , two or three citizens expressing the opinion that a steel roller should have been used by the contractor during the latest road resurfacing program, instead of a rubber-tired vehicle.
