First Boro Regatta Aug. 23 AVALOk - Counci Iwoman-Kachael Sloan of the Recreation Committee, has announced the date is set and all plans are go for the borough’s first annual regatta. The event is 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Saturday. Aug. 23. and immediately afterward is the presentation of awards at the Community Center. There are three categories for entrants: the 14.16.and 18ft. boats. “We hope this event will grow larger each year and become another special highlight of the summer season in Avalon.” tht* councilwoman said. Participants may ! register with the Recreation Department at Community Hall. Spec tators are encouraged to come and watch the event from the beach; the exact site hasn’t yet been determined.
