Clam Relay Program Readies COURT HOUSE - A clam relay program is set to begin operation in Cape may County Sept. 3 but speclfl clamming permits and clam leases must be obtained by Aug.

The program is designed to allow the harvesting of clams from polluted wattes which are first transferred to clean waters for a prescribed period. ACTUAL mechanics of the relay operation will have to be established affer the deadline, according to Marine Extension Agent Stewart Tweed, an area coordinator will be needed, leased areas marked, trucks certified and a working schedule established. Leased areas are planned for Great Sound and may have to be worked everyother week because of low tides. Copies of the forms are available through the Marine Extension Office (465 5115) but licenses can only be issued through Shellfish offices at Nacoate Creek or Leeds Point. Shell Talk Due MIDDLE TWP - William Old, world, authority on Cones, and assistant curator of the Dept, of Malacology, American Museum of Natural History, will present a slide lecture on his Expedition to the Galapagus Islands. 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor Blvd., sponsored by the Jersey Cape Shell Club.
