Ahhhhh. drifting toward fall. Not quite time to think of storm windows, but the thought is lurking. Lots of folks who are able to like to take a fall vacation, lull on the beaches and think about all manner of things. As one of the local sages always says, "It’s nice to think about nice things.’’, It’s a good time of year for bird watching as they journey to and from our area. As for us, we’re happy to be alive & enjoying life in Cape May County. Aren’t you? ED ZABERER’S ANGLE8EA INN - Have dinner with a difference! Ed Zaberer's Anglesea Inn, just off exit 6 of the Garden State Pky, exhibits quite a flair even in this area noted for excellent restaurants. The dining rooms are elaborately decorated with Tiffany lamp shades — all authentic antiques. (There are more than 300 shades at Zaberer’s!) But on to.the food — the only way to describe it is excellent. Everything from spaghetti, Long Island Duckling, Filet Mignon, Broiled Maine Lobster and the famous Seafood Combination is served. The Zaberized Desserts are fantastic including the extravagant Peach Shortcake made from an old family recipe. THE GOLDEN EAGLE INN ir Restaurant — The perfect spot for a fall vacation! A few days at the Golden Eagle Inn, on the oceanfront in olde Cape May, will give you a complete rest and renewal, listening to the roiling sea just across the street! The Admiral’s Lounge
serves fabulous meals, with unlimited choices from the ample menu that includes country fresh meat and poultry, and appetiling catches from local and distant bays and seas. The Golden Eagle’s chef is a fussy guy, insisting on only the best for his guests. The Early Bird Special (sliced sirloin steak), a full course dinner is served nightly until 7 p.m. for just 37.95. UNCLE BILL’S PANCAKE HOUSE A family restaurants — Still open in Cape May and Avalon! Now that there is a more leisurely pace at the shore, you’ll especially enjoy stopping at Uncle Bill’s Pancake House A Family Restaurants, at Beach Ave. A Perry St., Cape May, open daily for breakfast and lunch; and at 32nd A Dune Dr., Avalon, open weekends. The pancakes are about the beat we've ever tasted with lots of varieties to choose from and prepared from Uncle Bill’s own discriminating recipe. The service is helpful and friendly; the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Be sure to stop by soon. GO TO SCHOOL! The Cape May County Vocational School’s fall term adult evening programs start the week of Sept. 15. Registration can be made as either the Vocational Technical Center or the Career Center, both on Crest Haven Rd. "east of the Garden State Pky, between 3 and 9p.m. on weekdays. There are lots of courses to choose from including Sewing, Gourmet Cooking
