ATHLETIC COUNCIL has refused to let the Panther Basketball Team enter the Christmas Basketball Tournament at Mainland Regional High School. The reason given is that the council cannot afford the gas for the trip. Yet the soccer team will be piaving in post season games and the football team will be engaged in State Tournament play as well as the girl's field hockey team. So how about the dasketbal) team ? •••
Football Boosters Club has taken over the sale of programs at the football games and is taking ads and patron’s names. At last week’s meeting members agreed to pay for the filming of the football games at home and also to pay Coach Art Tuel’s salary as Assistant coach, which was not assumed by the school board. The club is also trying to restore the freshman football program which was abolished by the board. MORE PLAYERS are being picked up by the Republicans and Democrats for their Flag Football Game. Chuck Metlcain will join Dave May’s Donkeys, vrfiile Butch Davies will be unable to play because he works Saturdays. Rosters at present are: For the Democrats - Billy Adams, Dave May. STONE HARBOR - Cape May County United Way will begin its' 1961 campaign Sept. 27 with a “Run (the United Way)’’ in Stone Harbor. There will be a two mile run starting at 9:30 a.m. and a five-mile run starting at 10a.m. The United Way anticipates raising $100,000 this year, according to Campaign Manager David Von Savage and President George Snyder. The agencies supported by United Way this year are: Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Contact, First Call For Help, Mental Health Services, Association for Retarded Citizens, Jersey Cape Visiting Homemaker Service, U.S.O., Jersey Cape Diagnostic, Training and Opportunities Center, Salvation Army, Cape-

Leagues Form For Volleyball CAPE MAY - The Dept, of Public Relations and Recreation will conduct organizational meetings for the I960 men’s and women's volleyball leagues inside Convention Hall Tuesday, Sept. 16. Interested teams should have a representative at this meeting. The women will meet at 7 p.m. and the men's session will follow immediately.
