TRENTON - At the 62d Annual Convention of The American Legion, Department of New Jersey, here. Sept. 4-6, Martin T. Monroe of Middlesex County was elected state commander of the 75,000 mem her organization. Monroe, a resident of Monmouth Junction, has been active in legion activities at the local, county and state levels for 15 years. He retired from the Navy in 1967 after 22 years of service. IN HIS acceptance speech. Monroe stated, "During the coming year I intend to travel to every corner of our state speaking to veterans and non-veterans alike on the programs which the Legion strongly supports. T intend to emphsiasize during the rtext 60 days the importance of getting all our eligible citizens to vote in the upcoming Presidential election in November. "1 WILL VOICE the Legion's strong support for our national security, part of which is a necessity for registration of young men and women as a first step in our military preparedness.
