101st §ets ‘Air Drop’ On City

SEA ISLE CITY - Thirty-six years after they took part in “Operation Market Garden," an air drop into Holland during the Second World War, members of the South Eastern Pennsylvania chapter of the 101st Airborne Division Asso. will hold their annual reunion

here.

More than 100 association members and their wives will gather Sept. 19 and 20 for their annual weekend in remembrance of that memorable Sunday, Sept. 17,1944, when the 101st flew from England for its airborne drop on Holland.

THE GROUP HAS met annually on this solemn anniversary, and this year, have selected Sea Isle City as the 'home' for the reunion Reunion headquarters will be the Sea Isle Inn, 63d and Landis Avenues Edmund Kane, president of the S.E. Pennsylvania Chapter of the association, has announced that George O'Brien, Clarksville, tenn., the national president, will be the guest

of honor.

THE ASSOCIATION is made up of the men of the 101st Airborne who fought Jn Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, Southern Ger-

many, and Southern France during World War II. During the association's annual dinner, Mayor Dominic C. Raffa will present the 'Key to The City’ to regional President Kane and national president O'Brien. Mayor Raffa will also present to the association a plaque containing a copy of the formal city resolution honoring the officers and men of the 101st, and officially welcoming them to the city. The reunion gets underway with registration on Friday afternoon and continue thru Sunday.

COURT HOUSE - The County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual membership meeting and installation banquet 6:30 p.m., Oct. 1, at the Top of the Marq in Cape May, announced Dennis Curley, dinner committee chairman.
