She’s 1980 ‘Firefighter Of Year’
Busy Oct. for Seniors
SEA ISLE CITY' - Denise Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mazurie of this city, was named as "Rookie Firefighter of the Year" for 1900 by the State of Georgia's State Firemen's Association. Mrs. Meyer, a member of the Columbus, Ga. Fire Company, received a trophy from the association at its convention at Jekyll
Island, Ga. She also ^.received a Medal of Merit from Columbus. THE SEA ISLE City Roard of Commissioners has also passed a resolution honoring Denise. Mrs. Meyer has been a member of The Columbus Fire Department for about a year, after moving there from Sea Isle City with her husband.
DENISE MEYER is following a family tradition. Her father has been a member of the city fire company for 25 years . and chief for the past ten. Her mother and sister Linda are active in the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps.

THEY ARE members of the Recreational Bridge Club who meet each Friday from September to June to play for high score Opening session this year had eight tables filled. Shirley Weisenbaugh came in first with 6.850. Alice Buch and Helen Coppock tied for second at 5.490 Jack Meyer, who since the club's inception five years ago has put up the tables, kept track of the coffee money (25 cents each put into the pot) and added uA the weekly scoring, came in third with 5,140. AT THE second session, Meyer was first with 5,200. Virginia Fluehr second (4,950) and Pat Gleason third (4,730). When the A scores are added up next June, the winner receives a trophy at the club's annual luncheon at the Windrift. A0H Unit Chartered VILLAS - The Ancient Order of Hibernians established a new division in the county at a charter presentation dinner with 150 attending at the Villas Fishing Club. The new division’s president William McFadden of Town Bank, welcomed National Vice President Joseph Roche of Baltimore and State President Thomas Cor corhn of Newark among other dignitaries. THE ANCIENT ORDER of Hibernians is an organization of men over 16 of Irish-Catholic descent whose purpose is to promote friendship, unity and Christian charity. Tbey trace their origin in the United States to 1836. The Cape May Division, first in the county, was organized July 13 this year at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in the Villas. Meetings are 1 p.m. the second Sunday of each month in the old Parish Hall on Hudson Ave.
