Warriors Winless but Together
QUARTERBACK Bob Kimball of Wildwood High limbrrft up during a prarticr ft ration Thurftda>.
WILDWOOD - So far Ibis season, the football Warriors of Wildwood High have played two hardfought contests against Saint Joseph's and Middle Township, but come away empty handed Despite the dual defeats, togethermess reigns The success of Wildwood's athletic programs depends on togetherness, especially among the coaches.'' Points out gridiron coach Don Reich. •THERE IS NO animosity whatsoever among our coaching staffs. - ' he states strongly denying the supposed ill will between the basketball ami fmiihall squads •Tlow can we hate each other when our head basketball coach Uim
Traceyi also coaches my wide receivers? We all coexist We support each other's programs as much ns possible." asserts Reich. In addition to Tracey. Reich also employs the track coach as a conditioning expert for his football plavers. •THE WILDWOOD athletes also share m this ••family" atmosphere. "I have eight of my
football players on the basketball team and another two kept the scorebnok for them, last season." notes Coach Reich. "We are now using two basketball players as football managers We even have a very good baseball pitcher. Jeff Tomlinson, starting at offensive guard for us. We all help each other. Reich says proudly. David Weinberg

Fall fishing is starting to take itstamiliar course. On Thursday we had a big rain storm which was much appreciated by the farmers but slowed dowm fishing. Then on Friday the r wind started to blow west, and on Saturday it blew again hard from the northwest so that most of the fishing that was done was on the ocean close under the beach From 94th St. off Stone Harbor to Hereford Inlet, the party boats and private boats were so thick it seemed like you could walk from one to the other. I SAW ONE nice catch of flounder come into Roseman’s. I assumed it was either Hereford or off Cold Spring jetty and the Christian Admiral. because there was another big fleet working olf Cape May. Now I know that a lot of nice flounder and weakfish were caught in these locations, but let me still say that even though it seems like the pattern is changing, it may not be quite that accurate. Before the blow, which turned the Bay into chocolate soup, some real nice weakfish were still being taken in the deep water oyster stakes clear up to Miah Maul shoal, and there's no reason to believe

that dll that Bay fishing is over either. JOHN MANGANARAO. who runs the JM Garage in Green Creek, took his wife Bca on a trip down to Ocracoke, and back to Nagshead on the outer Banks of North Carolina for a week's vacation, and when he came back T a friend of his brought him several beautiful fillets off some four and five lb. flounder he'd gotten in the 40-ft. water in the anchorage on Sunday. So don't count the Bay out yet. I had a call from Hilda Mikesell of Stone Harbor Sunday night. She had just caught a 9 lb. 8oz. weakfish in the inland waterway and weighed it in at Smugglers Cove in Avalon for the Cape May County Fishing Contest HILDA TOLD me she had also gotten an R lb. 4 oz. tiderunner there about three weeks ago. The bait was squid and sbedder crab, and while Hilda's fish didn’t set any records, it still is the best sounds' fish I've heard of this season. For some reason those back waters haven't been as productive this year as they usually are. As C'pl. Ernal Foster says. "Those fish have head and tails and that's about all we know about* them. In another week, on Thursday night, the Cape May County Hatteras Angler will be meeting down at the Winchester in Cape May to discuss their fall trip to the outer Banks of North Caroliie for channel bass, or red drum as the natives call them. USUALLY WHILE the local group is in Hatteras, we have a good run of stripers on the beaches and in the rips here, so keep your eyes peeled for tfiese dates and try to plan to catch a linesider here while thtclubis in Hatteras. Jack Osborne of Court House is the new president of the Cape May CoHatteras Anglers, and I’m sure some interesting news will come out of this meeting. ONE LAST Comment — Quite a bit of concern has been voiced on my talk of people catching Dauphins in the canyons (I believe this could be the fault of an over zealous proofreader who thinks I don't know how to spell, an^ inserted the word dolphiiTlDolphin are the porpoises which we see id marine world and other sea shows, and they are illegal to catch on hook and line I'm talking about dauphins, which are a sport fish. I hope this straightens that out
